By shifting to a low-carb regime, I have realised that curbing sugars is the key to weight loss. To date, over the past seven months, I have shed 21 kgs. and have 9 left to go to achieve my goal. Not only have I lost weight but I feel so much more energetic and can make it through the day without feeling dead tired.

This has increased my enthusiasm for many things that I had thought I had simply out grown. The big plus is that low carb eating leaves you feeling less hungry too. A New Country, A New Lifestyle

“My name is Breana, age 31, I have lived my life in central California, USA. I arrived in Harare, Zimbabwe as a guest during the first week of September 2015.

On September 5, 2015, on the plane from San Francisco to London, I had my last taste of Coca Cola. Upon arrival in Harare 2 days later, I then converted to a LCHF diet. I found it interesting that Mona prepared food with which I was completely familiar with, while simply eliminating the carbs. She cooked (Mexican-style) burritos with mince (ground beef), mushrooms, onions, full-fat cheese, cabbage, tomatoes, avocados and hot sauce. I was pleasantly surprised to find that this was part of the LCHF way of eating. It tasted great!

To my surprise, the weight loss began a mere 2 weeks on LCHF,  when I found that I had lost 4 kg! During that same time, people began to notice the changes in my appearance that accompanied the weight loss, mostly in my face, chest and arms. After 4 weeks, my waistline began to shrink considerably and I began feeling more energetic. This was the start of an incredible journey for me.

To this end, since arriving 4 months ago, I have lost nearly 20 kg as a result of following Dr. Jeans’ LCHF program. I have learned what to eat and what not to eat. Getting Back on Track

“In August of 2015 I returned to Zimbabwe after completing my three-year degree programme in the UK.  To cut a long story short, I started my university programme weighing an approximate 96kg and concluded it at 123kg; a total weight gain of 27kg.

I decided I was tired of feeling uncomfortable in my own body and experiencing feelings of exhaustion. It was suggested that I adjust my lifestyle to that which is now known as the Low Carbohydrate High Fat (LCHF) lifestyle. The effect was almost instantaneous. I dropped 5kg within the first few days and within the next week my energy levels started to increase and I generally felt better in my day to day life. I continued losing the weight over the next nine months and with the inclusion of intermittent fasting I have reduced my weight by a total of 40kg. Throughout this period, I limited my carbohydrate intake within the range of 20g-50g. In addition to this great weight loss I also managed to reduce my triglycerides and LDL (bad cholesterols) and increase my HDL (good cholesterol) as well as reversing the beginnings of fatty liver disease and hypertension that I had developed.

My blood pressure when I began this lifestyle was 160/100 and to date it is resting at a comfortable 110/70. My BMI has decreased from 38 to 25 and my waist has been reduced from 105cm (42in) to 84cm (33in). All of this, I’ve noticed, have encouraged many people I have met along my journey.

Overall the journey so far has been one of the best experiences in my life thus far. If you choose to follow a lifestyle similar to the LCHF lifestyle, then you will have made a great decision; even if weight loss isn’t a goal for you. In this lifestyle you’ll notice increased energy levels that are maintained throughout the day rather than having the afternoon slump we are all too familiar with.

To finish if you want to make a decision to revolutionise your life and recapture the roaring energy levels we all had as children then I urge you to at the very least to try this lifestyle. You won’t regret it.” Troy
